The Letter e
Love/Fear No. 94
Every poem in Hearts on the Line stems from an anonymous person graciously answering two questions: “What is my greatest love?” and “What is my greatest fear?” The rest is just my poetry…
Life Is a Word, and Love Is a Sentence. In the jungles of calculus, grows a number: two point seven one eight two eight. No one planted it, although it could seem it has been sown. It grows in finance and in physics, population and statistics. It is e in cursive writing and a seed that travels widely. An order beyond borders defining all that is. A sprout innate. A stroke of fate. Was it e that sent to me this little stray cat of my dreams? And e, I plead, please send a seed to guard my Coco. Beg you please! Thank You to the Human Spirit…
I would be grateful if you shared your own love and fear on this link…
It’s anonymous and could lead to the next poem!

This person’s greatest love was “the elegance of the natural logarithm and e.”
Their greatest fear was “losing a stray kitten I adopted called Coco.”
The love may seem unusual, but, when you dig a little into the subject, I think it does confirm a kind of higher order in how our world works — which is sort of comforting.
Good ol’ Euler’s number! In a former life, I was a bit of a math geek and so I recognized “e” right away. :) I’m guessing their greatest love was math, and their greatest fear was their cat? I rather enjoyed the fun, enigmatic ending! Mirrors the irrationality of “e” very well if you ask me.
