This hits home! Reminds me of the mythical story of the Buddhist deity Chenrezig who wanted t o help all sentient beings and instead had himself blown up into thousand pieces.(it gets better in the story though). My wife is incredibly sensitive and compassionate and I see the pain and turbulent emotions she has to deal with just to be able to meet her own emotions. Very touching piece.
That is tragic! I've found that some of the most helpful people sometimes forget to help themselves. That is its own tragedy, which can lead to so many other things. With that said, I have no idea who this person is, save for the two short answers that were sent to me.
This person’s greatest love was to help others.
Their greatest fear was ending up alone…

In the spirit of these answers, the poem was written as a story with a moral, which was done in an attempt to make the poem itself helpful in a way.
I hope this is something the person who very helpfully sent me these answers will be able to appreciate!

All the best!

Wow, I didn't know of Chenrezig, but it seems like the story touches on some of the same stuff that I wanted to touch on here.
I know someone a bit similar to your wife, based on your description. These rare souls have a lot to deal with!
Thanks, Som. I appreciate it.
I think this is one of my favorites so far! It's just so short, effective and vivid.
Keep it up! :- )
Very happy to read that! It is a little like your poem, in that it is a small, allegorical adventure. :)
Cheers!
A lot implied just with these two lines:
"Where was once a living helper,
there is now a pile of bones."
Very nicely written.
I appreciate it a lot.
Writing that final stanza was a great experience. Things started falling into place in ways I hadn't intended or planned for.
Glad that you liked it!

I appreciate your kind words. :)
Words to live by!
